Hunter x Hunter Back On Track?

Weekly Shonen Jump manga Hunter x Hunter has recently reached a new record in continuous serialization.  As of 2012 issue #8, scheduled to go on sale January 23rd, the manga has been serialized in WSJ for 22 consecutive issues (starting with 2011 issue #35-36, which was put on sale August 8th, 2011).

This is the longest Hunter x Hunter has been published continuously since its original serialization in 1998.  While very well received, Hunter x Hunter has yet to reach the level of fame as other series serialized around the same time (such as One Piece, 1997, and Naruto, 1999) because of its constant hiatuses, the longest of which lasted 79 issues, from February 2006 until October 2007.  Most of these were reportedly due to the illness of the author, Togashi Yoshihiro (also creator of Yu Yu Hakusho and Level E).… Keep Reading

X-Men Anime Adaption Preview

x-men animeAnimax, the Japanese TV channel has just launched a site for the new anime of Marvel’s X-Men characters adapted by Madhouse. The new anime series premieres on 1st April on Animax.

Animax also have plans for an anime of Marvel’s Blade. The US G4 network has plans to start running these new titles later this year… Keep Reading

Devil Comic Previewed (Madhouse)

The new Devil comic from Torajirou Kishi (Maka-Maka, Colorful) will be available 3 February 2010. (But sneak over to Comic Book Resources for a preview).

Devil sees American publisher Dark Horse Comics collaborate with Japanese animation studio Madhouse. It will be a full color comic produced exclusively for publication in the USA.

Set in Tokyo, this science-fiction police drama sees the incurable disease Devil’s Possession rapidly infect the population. People are turned into into bloodsucking superhumans known as “Devils”.

1st issue (24 pages) out 3 February 2010 – 2nd issue due on sale on 17 March 2010.… Keep Reading
